Bernard's Rants: Joey Porter is calling YOU out!

You gotta love the guy. Joey Porter is a lightning rod for controversy. Too many players in the NFL forget about the art of trash talking. They think it is beneath them. They either don't want to stoop down to some scumbag's level, or perhaps they are just scared that they can't walk the walk to match their talk.

But Joey Porter is a different story. Porter refuses to shutup and he backs up his talk week after week...season after season. For example, Porter was virtually unblockable in the AFC Divisional matchup against the Indianopolis Colts last postseason (3 sacks on Peyton). He then shut down Jerramy Stevens in the Superbowl after stating that he wanted blood (note: Stevens wasn't his assignment on the touchdown).

Yes, my friends, Joey Porter is a vampire. A vampire that feeds off the smack talk of other players. When he smells blood, or fear, he becomes a homing missile and you better get the hell out of his way or put more people in to block him.

Perhaps it's not fair. Porter isn't really picking on people his own size. OK, Stevens and Winslow were both first-round picks, but so far they have been duds - all talk and no production. Take Winslow for instance. Here's a suggestion, before you pronounce yourself to be the greatest TE of the NFL, why don't you produce more. Heck, why don't you produce anything? Did you see the "gadget" play where Kellen Winslow tried to throw a ball last week? He got sacked!

I hope to see more hugs and kisses from Joey Porter, but I can't wait to see the jawing really heat up again.
