NCAA March Madness - Day 3
Where are the upsets? So far the NCAA Tournament has been what some might call...a little boring. Although I didn't pick a #3 or #4 seed to lose straight up, I honestly thought one would go down prior to today's games. Another trend that usually works is that #1 seeds tend to NOT cover in their opening game. This year they were 3-1 ATS! What gives Vegas? Maybe Vegas has the public right where they want them...or maybe not. Either way, we are going to stick with the same system we've used for years. I'm still aiming for 65%.
1pm
Xavier +8.5 over Ohio State
3pm
Butler +5.5 over Maryland
Texas A&M -3 over Louisville
5pm
Pittsburgh -7 over Va Commonwealth
Boston College +8.5 over Georgetown
Vanderbilt +3 over Washington State
8pm
Michigan State +10 over North Carolina
Indiana +7 over UCLA (Indiana could win this game outright! )
Best of Luck,
Pikes
Pike's NCAA Tournament Record: 28-4 S.U. (88%) and 17-13-2 ATS (57%)

I love how we are to accept the excuse that his Miami Ohio pick was a mistake. Of course it was a mistake, they lost. We'll let him slip on that, but by my count he still went 13-3 straight up and 9-7 ATS yesterday. So, by my count he's still 27-5 straight up (84%) and 17-14-1 ATS(53%). But, I’m also not taking into account the lines he changed between his original post yesterday morning and changes that showed up after 4pm. Pikes’ credibility is absolutely shot, so I better keep tabs on him so we know how he really does!! I wonder what picks he'll change today after the games start.
For my picks I take the BEST available line I have access too. I can update the lines prior to gametime since that is when I place my bets. As long as I don't change them when the game has occurred...which I didn't, I'm ok.
Sure. However, in a public forum, which this is, how do you expect people to follow your advice and "play along" if you continually change lines and picks??? It'll be interesting to see how much better your performance is post-alterations vs as originally posted. Don't worry I'm keeping track.
Anonymous,
This isn't technically a public forum. We actually control the content for the most part.
That said, thanks for keeping Pikes honest - he can be a sneaky bastard. Perhaps you could offer up your responses/arguments against his picks before the games take place?
That would be interesting.
I've always told my followers to play the game right before gametime so you get the most favorable line. If I obtain a better line closer to gametime, I will indicate that in my article. Also, my plays are based off of several trends and line movements. If a line shifts against the team I like, I may change my play prior to gametime. I have NEVER changed a line or a play after the game has started. Could it be that someone is jealous that they aren't doing so well in their "office pool"? Is 8-0 and 5-2-1 ATS not good enough for you? I'm curious about your plays anonymous. Maybe you should critique mine prior to today's games and we can see how well you do. Today is going to be a mess.
Listen, I am nothing even close to a sports handicapper and I also do not have the same resources at my disposal as Pikes. I would also find it difficult to critique Pikes' picks because I would never know when they were going to change. There is still no evidence as to when Pikes changed his picks, except for his word and well we know how much that is worth. My count for him is at 22-16-2 ATS (55%) and 35-5 (88%) SU after a very good Saturday for him.
