Week 7 NFL Picks
Fresh off my Monday Night win with the Cards (+12.5) I feel confident in giving you some advice on your weekly gambling habit.
First, quit now! Gambling is bad for you…especially if you suck at it. Most people have no idea what they are doing and no business putting money on games, unless they have read this column of course.
Second, play smart. If you don’t agree with something you read in this column, don’t bet that game. It’s your money - you shouldn’t let others tell you what to do with it. I don’t claim to win every game I play, but I do win enough to let me write this with the confidence that I will have yet another winning week in my wallet.
In this column, both today and in the future, I give you the picks you need to get yourself out from under that rock. Use these picks wisely and you'll never have to hide from “your guy” again. I play the picks I write about, so whether I win or lose, you’ll see it in writing. So if you have the guts, the gall, and of course the bankroll…follow me to weekend glory.
Game One: This game comes to you from Houston, TX where the Texans (1-4) play host to the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-2). The Jags (fresh off their bye week) travel to Houston looking to keep pace with the Colts (5-0) in the AFC South. After getting blown out in Dallas last week, the Texans look to come back strong at home with #1 pick and rookie stud Reggie Bu…oh, sorry, I wrote that part a while ago and just never got to use it. Anyhow, I look for the Texans (+9.5) to cover and play the Jags tough at home. Since 2001, these two have played eight times, with Houston either winning outright or losing by a touchdown in six of those games. Look for this weekend to make it 7 of 9.
Game Two: The next game on the winner’s list takes us to Buffalo, where the Bills (2-4) welcome the New England Patriots (4-1) to town. Despite all the talk before the season about how many players they lost, the Pats have been rolling this season and look to continue that trend this weekend. The Bills, however, have revenge on their minds after losing at New England in September when the Pats got a safety to break a 4th quarter tie and win 19-17. The Bills (+5) take it to the Pats at home this week and finish what they started in Week 1.
Game Three: The third game on the list finds us in Arrowhead Stadium where LT2 will lead his Chargers (4-1) against the division rival Chiefs (2-3) and fellow running back Larry Johnson. The Chiefs are 6-4 against the Chargers in their last 10 games with two of the losses being by a field goal or less. Arrowhead is known for being one of the toughest stadiums to play in and this weekend the Chiefs (+5) and their fans will show the Chargers just how that reputation was earned. Welcome back to earth Mr. Rivers.
Game Four: Last but not least we have the Denver Broncos (4-1) in Cleveland this weekend to take on the Browns (1-4). The last time these two met was in December 2003 when Denver won 23-20 in Cleveland. Not much has changed since then as Cleveland is still picking near the top of the draft and Denver is still producing 1,000 yard rushers and playoff appearances. I look for this game to be very similar to the one three years ago - take the Browns (+4.5) and roll in your cash come Sunday night.
